WEIGHING

We consider chemical weighing vital to the elimination of rejects. To accomplish this “zero-defect” goal we automated this process so that formulations can be weighed as specified with minimal chance of operator error. This system (AWACS -Automated Weighing and Control System) has been in operation for 5 years and the performance has exceeded our expectations. First, each batch is weighed to 100 percent accuracy. Next, each lot and lot part combination is validated to eliminate any mix up.  Finally, all lots are checked for expiration dates and validated. Any out-of-spec activity will lock the operators from proceeding until an authorized person documents and takes the necessary corrective steps.

We utilize all data generated during the weighing process to control the blending process. Each container that is labeled for each lot must be present in the blending room before the blending process can continue.  More information on this is provided in the blending process description.
